100 years ago, all foods were organic
Before WWII all foods were organic. Leftover chemicals developed for war became fertilizers and pesticides on farms.
As populations have grown, farming practices have changed to maximize crop yields and keep up with the demand for food. Non-organic farming is no doubt more efficient. However, our health and the environment is an afterthought.
Organic foods are free of
- Synthetic Pesticides & Fertilizers
- GMO’s
- Growth Hormones
- Irradiation
Long River Brewing’s products are made with organic grains and hops whenever possible. Additionally, we do not use artificial colors and flavors in our beer..
Why do we choose to use organic ingredients?
Quality
We make absolutely no sacrifices when it comes to quality of ingredients. Organic ingredients are fresh and taste amazing.
No Chemicals
Organic crops are grown without synthetic or chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides. Non-organically grown plants can retain some of those chemicals and can be harmful if consumed.
The Environment
Organic farming practices reduce pollution, conserve water, reduce soil erosion, increase soil fertility, and use less energy. Farming without pesticides is also better for nearby birds and animals as well as people who live close to farms.
